In Portacomaro, within the walls of the tower of the old fourteenth-century refuge, the ‘Bottega del Grignolino’ is reopening as a wine shop where design, culture and flavour meet.
We have always seen design as a tool that can create connections and establish deep relationships between spaces and people. With the aim of promoting the wine and food culture and traditions of Piedmont, inside the fourteenth-century tower in the heart of Portacomaro, a small town nestled among the Astigiano Hills, we have taken part in the renovation of the BOTTEGA DEL GRIGNOLINO, a historical spot that was closed for seven years and is now part of the Pokerbeb DESIGN NETWORK.
Working in collaboration with the Region of Piedmont, the town council and the Pro Loco of Portacomaro, we redesigned the interior of the Bottega del Grignolino, an old wine shop with a rustic kitchen where you can sample the wine and food specialities of Monferrato, including Grignolino, a wine that one either loves or hates, with a richly faceted taste and elegant hue, perfect for accompanying the flavourful dishes of the Piedmont tradition.
The town council chose Pokerbeb to give a modern, original feel to the locale, selecting furnishings that could breath fresh new life into the Bottega del Grignolino: a unique place, unlike any other in the area, perfect for fostering encounter and sharing.
The reopening of this four-storey building represents an important rebirth for the town of Portacomaro and Piedmont traditions.
Inside, the hues of the interior play on those of the vineyards and hills that surround the town, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. From the brick-hued bar and the oak Air table to the green, yellow and beige Dangla chairs, all of the Pokerbeb furniture at the Bottega del Grignolino was chosen to visually express the history and tradition of a place created to give a unique ‘taste’ to the region.
